Dr. Courtney Younglove is one of only 48 physicians in the US that is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology AND obesity medicine AND is a Certified Menopause Practitioner! Dr. Younglove has spent over twenty-five years taking care of women in the Greater Kansas City Area and is passionate about helping women understand and gain control over their health. She speaks nationally about the intersection of obesity, women’s health, and healthcare policy.

Dr. Younglove’s Note:
Throughout 25 years practicing medicine, I’ve watched too many women suffer through perimenopause and menopause without adequate support – not because they don’t deserve it, but because the system doesn’t give clinicians time for the nuanced conversations this biopsychosocial transition requires.
I lost my mother two years ago. In the years before she died, I watched her fade – not because she didn’t try, but because the system wasn’t built to help her thrive through the second half of her life.
I promised myself I wouldn’t age that way. And I’m here to help you age differently too.
– Dr. Courtney Younglove

We Address All of It:
The menopause transition isn’t just about suffering as our hormones decline. Every part of our health can be affected: sleep, metabolism, mood, sexual health, bone density, cardiovascular risk, and so much more. Optimizing these things matters if we want to thrive through the second half of our lives.
Your Health is Our Top Priority:
We don’t sell hormone pellets. We don’t push supplements you don’t need. We don’t prescribe without proper medical evaluation. We do medicine the right way.

Patients who want Dr. Younglove to assume responsibility for managing hormone prescriptions (when medically appropriate) will be given a short-term prescription and will need to make a follow-up appointment (typically 4-6 weeks after the initial consult) for ongoing care.
Depending on complexity and tolerability (not everyone’s body responds in a straightforward, predictable manner), this may be repeated a few times. We hope not, but some bodies are complex.
Once patients are happy and stable on medication, Dr. Younglove will extend the appointment interval to every 6 months (as long as routine health maintenance exams and mammograms stay up to date) and prescription refills will be given to cover the determined interval.
Follow-up visits cost $165 and can also be scheduled in-person or via our secure telemedicine platform.
If you need help with weight management, we can help too!
Metabolic health affects our ability to navigate the menopause transition.
Women who are actively gaining weight during perimenopause typically have more pronounced symptoms. Achieving weight stability helps. Women with excess weight typically do much better during perimenopause when the excess weight is addressed.
During your initial consultation, we will address lifestyle factors that, if implemented, could help make the transition a bit easier, but if you are interested in ongoing weight management/obesity treatment, there’s no way we can take a deep dive down that rabbit hole during your initial consultation.
Dr. Younglove (and the rest of her team) spend much of their time obsessing about treating patients with excess weight. Pairing perimenopause/menopause treatment with evidence-based weight management protocols can be incredibly powerful.

What to Expect:
Before Your Visit
We’ll ask you to complete a detailed health history and ensure you’re up-to-date on routine screenings (Pap, mammogram, etc.). If not, we’ll help coordinate.
During Your Visit
Plan for 60 minutes. We’ll talk about your symptoms, your health history, your concerns, and your goals. Together, we’ll create a personalized treatment plan.
After Your Visit
You’ll leave with a clear roadmap: what to do now, what to monitor, and what to consider for long-term health. If hormone therapy is appropriate, we’ll walk you through options, risks, and benefits.
Ongoing Support
- Some people just want us to help design the roadmap – and will have someone on their care team take over management.
- Others want us to do follow-ups, adjustments, and be available for questions as needs change.
- We can discuss the pros and cons of both at the visit – and make a plan that works for you.
FAQs:
No! We work collaboratively with your current clinicians. In fact, we require you to have someone on your team taking care of routine GYN care.
Perfect. That’s exactly what our consultations are for. No pressure. Just information and a deep discussion about treatment options.
Absolutely. Part of our evaluation is figuring out what’s happening with your hormones and your symptoms.
We are a direct pay practice. Insurance restrictions don’t allow for long, deep-dive visits, which is exactly what’s required when addressing this topic for the first time. A direct pay model allows us to spend the amount of time we need.
We are happy to provide you with detailed receipts you can submit for potential reimbursement from an HSA, FSA, or to put toward your out-of-network benefits.
Women have a number of different sex hormones floating around in our system. Many of them fluctuate dramatically throughout the month – often, levels change throughout the day. Most of the time, the diagnoses of perimenopause and menopause can be made clinically (taking a thorough history), but occasionally, we will order lab tests – to either confirm something that isn’t clinically obvious, or to rule out something more concerning.
We don’t do routine hormone testing.
If we need to order any tests, we will give you an order form that you can take to either LabCorp or Quest. Typically, these tests can be processed through health insurance.
We don’t do any type of salivary hormone testing or crazy expensive hormone panels. They are not validated, nor are they considered a standard of care in hormone management.
Absolutely not! Hormone pellets are unregulated and are not considered evidence-based medicine. If we decide that hormones are a good choice for you, we have a wide array of FDA-approved hormone therapies that we can choose from – all of which can be filled at a regular pharmacy – often using your health insurance.
Many of these FDA-approved formulations are bioidentical. They are all well-studied and we have loads of data regarding their safety and efficacy.
Making money by injecting you with unregulated pellets or mixing up random concoctions in our back room goes against our foundational principles – to put your health and safety above all else.
Your strongest years are still ahead.
Menopause doesn’t have to mean decline. With the right support, it can be a reset – a chance to prioritize your health and step into the second half of your life with strength, clarity, and confidence.
