What if menopause could be different?

Dr. Courtney Younglove is one of only 240 physicians in the US that is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology AND obesity medicine. She is the only one in the Greater Kansas City area who is also a Certified Menopause Practitioner. Dr. Younglove is passionate about helping women gain control over their health and speaks nationally about the intersection of obesity and women’s health.

Dr. Younglove’s Note:
Throughout 25 years practicing medicine, I’ve watched too many women suffer through perimenopause and menopause without adequate support – not because they don’t deserve it, but because the system doesn’t give clinicians time for the nuanced conversations this biopsychosocial transition requires.
I lost my mother two years ago. In the years before she died, I watched her fade – not because she didn’t try, but because the system wasn’t built to help her thrive through the second half of her life.
I promised myself I wouldn’t age that way. And I’m here to help you age differently too.

We Address All of It:
Menopause isn’t just about hormones. We address sleep, metabolism, mood, sexual health, bone density, cardiovascular risk—everything that matters for thriving at midlife.
Your Health is Our Top Priority:
We don’t sell hormone pellets. We don’t push supplements you don’t need. We don’t prescribe without proper medical evaluation. We do medicine the right way.

At Heartland Weight Loss, we know A LOT about the intersection of menopause and weight gain!
If you need help with weight management, we can help too!
The Standard American Diet causes elevations in the hormone insulin. Insulin is the biggest player in the accumulation of visceral fat (the stuff around our midsections). During our reproductive years, estrogen works against this process. We often don’t realize how much estrogen is helping us fight this battle – until it’s gone. Although taking supplemental estrogen can help with some of the other menopausal symptoms, it’s often not enough to halt this process of central weight gain once it has begun. Optimizing our diet to diminish insulin stimulation (and reverse insulin resistance if it’s also a problem) along with lowering cortisol production is key to combatting this process.

What to Expect:
Before Your Visit
We’ll ask you to complete a detailed health history and ensure you’re up-to-date on routine screenings (Pap, mammogram, etc.). If not, we’ll help coordinate.
During Your Visit
Plan for 60 minutes. We’ll talk about your symptoms, your health history, your concerns, and your goals. Together, we’ll create a personalized treatment plan.
After Your Visit
You’ll leave with a clear roadmap: what to do now, what to monitor, and what to consider for long-term health. If hormone therapy is appropriate, we’ll walk you through options, risks, and benefits.
Ongoing Support
- Some people just want us to help design the roadmap – and will have someone on their care team take over management.
- Others want us to do follow-ups, adjustments, and be available for questions as needs change.
- We can discuss the pros and cons of both at the visit – and make a plan that works for you.
FAQs:
“Do I need to stop seeing my regular doctor?”
No! We work collaboratively with your current clinicians. In fact, we require that you have someone on your care team taking care of routine GYN care.
“Will you take my insurance?”
We’re a direct-pay practice, which allows us to spend more time with you without insurance restrictions. We provide detailed receipts you can submit for potential reimbursement.
“What if I just want to talk about options – not necessarily start treatment?”
Perfect. That’s exactly what our consultations are for. No pressure. Just information and support.
“I’m not sure if I’m in perimenopause or menopause. Can you help?”
Absolutely. Part of our evaluation is figuring out exactly what’s happening with your hormones and your symptoms.
Your strongest years are still ahead.
Menopause doesn’t have to mean decline. With the right support, it can be a reset – a chance to prioritize your health and step into the second half of your life with strength, clarity, and confidence.
